Writer:- The Victor editorial team. Artist:- Pete Sutherland.

    Main cast:- Private Ticker Turner.

Time period:- Second World War (1939 - 1945).

These two page stories about Private Ticker Turner's adventures of trying to wangle his way out of army exercises and general army routine by making his life easier are well plotted and humorously drawn by Sutherland. Various adventures follow Turner from his time in a training camp in England to fighting the Germans in Europe, North Africa and the Japanese in the Far East. Turner is a competant soldier and never shys away from doing his duty, but if he can wangle his way out of guard duty or make life more comfortable for himself he's all for taking the risk. Sometimes he falls on his feet and sometimes he just makes his situation even worse!

The publishing history of the series isn't an easy one to follow. The series had an inital six issue run between 44 to 49. Turner then re-appeared in issues 65, 69 and 73. (It may be that the series fell foul to a promotional push of The Victor, having to make way for new stories and free gifts). Making a total of nine adventures. The series was re-printed beginning in issue 512 and finishing sometime after 523. (confirmation still required). The series (or some of the stories anyway), were re-published around issue(s) 1054. I've yet to index the issues from 1000 onwards, but once done, I will update this series publishing history.

The following adventures below of Ticker Turner are from issues 48 (512); 513; 520 and 65 (521).

Note - numbers in the brackets above refer to the issue that the adventure was re-printed in.
