Saul Sands is the father of the boy hunter Shiwa Sands. Sands senior is a very laid back character whose main priority in life is hunting and ensuring that he is well paid for it. His gun bearer, Fundi is no servant, but a highly educated person with a dry sense of humour, who will think nothing of being disparaging about Sands.

Sands Senior stories are set in Africa during the First World War, where he reluctantly gets involved in fighting for the British against Germany.

The following adventures of Saul Sands and Fundi are from issues 1156; 1165; 1168; 1169.
