Dick Nelson is captain for the Barford Black Nelsons, football team. He has a habit of scoring a goal for his side in the ninety minute of a match. Hence the title of this series. However, Nelson is also a Captain in British Intelligence. He is assigned to a mission to distract an enemy President by "stealing" some atomic plans and selling them to the foreign power.
Needless to say this makes Nelson a traitor to his own country, his family and football club. Meanwhile, the Nelson football team are struggling, having lost their last four matches. Garland though sends the team a new striker, Bob Clayton, who is as good as Dick Nelson in scoring goals when required in the nineth minute. What's going on?
