THE HORNET LETTERS PAGE


The editors of 'The Hornet' preferred to publish readers letters that were of a humorous, scary or informative nature. They were interested in knowing readers favourite and not so favourite strips, but this information was not printed. Comics have always encouraged readers to write to the letters page and The Hornet did this by awarding those readers with a prize. In 'The Hornet's early years it was a bicycle. Also in the earlier issues of the letters page the editors published a weekly 'grouse' letter that allowed readers to have a moan about a particular subject. The page's banner changed over the years, but I believe the example below was the first to be used. Below is a selection of letters, picked randomly from various Hornet letter pages. Further examples of letters will be added to this page at the editor's whim!
