A strip from The Victor
See The Victor issues 419 to 429.
Writer:- The Victor editorial team. Artist:- Philpotts.
Main cast:- Sam Gould; Paul Latrobe.
Time period:- The near future.
Back in the late 1960's I was still an avid reader of The Victor and read most of the stories. But not this one. When I indexed this series I made an entry for it under the Canadian Themed heading. Having just read the series for the first time I realise that although the story starts in Canada it moves to other continents. It's more an adventure set around the world, but with Canadian lead characters, trappers Sam Gould and Paul Latrobe
The villians are faceless, heartless, unstoppable aliens, hell bent on invading planet Earth. Their choice of weapon, deadly, freezing cold. They appear first as giant walking snowballs with the ability to modify their defences against various weapons used on them by mankind. (A sort of Borg style defence?) Who the aliens are and why they have come to planet Earth is not explained, but various theories are put forth.
Eventally, a weapon is found to destory the aliens, who learn the error of their ways and get chopped down to size by a tenacious and (for once), united human race.
The following adventures from The Fear From Farthest Space series are from issues 419; 420; 422; 424; 426; 428 & 429.
